Dental Veneers in Gordon – What Are They?
At Gordon Family Dental, we offer both porcelain veneers and composite veneers..
Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin shells, or laminates, that are shaped to fit over the front surface of a tooth. They are custom-made and fabricated, often in a dental lab. We use them to treat a variety of minor dental problems, including teeth that are:
- Discoloured
- Worn-down
- Misaligned
- Cracked or chipped
- Gapped, or
- Of an irregular shape or size.
Composite veneers are made from a composite resin and moulded in place on the affected tooth to make an ‘invisible’ cosmetic repair or adjustment.
We offer patients the option of traditional lab veneers, CEREC same-day veneers, or composite veneers. We are happy to discuss the treatments and costs to help you make an informed decision at your consultation at Gordon Family Dental.
Porcelain Veneers in Gordon – What’s the procedure?
Traditional porcelain veneers take 2 to 3 dental appointments to complete. During the first visit, your teeth will be prepared to accommodate the veneers so that they sit flush against your smile. This involves removing a thin layer of enamel. Following this, an impression is taken and sent to the dental lab where your custom veneers are fabricated. Temporary veneers are often placed while you wait for your permanent ones. During the final visit, you can try out your veneers for size. If you’re happy with the fit and bite, they will be firmly bonded into place.
We also offer patients the choice of CEREC same-day dental veneers. Digital 3D scans are taken of your teeth enabling our dentists to virtually shape your porcelain veneers on the computer screen. The data is then sent to our on-site CEREC milling machine that sculpts your veneers which we place the same day.
